Fairhall School has a broad range of safe and effective curriculum-based learning that extends beyond the classroom walls. This is referred to as EOTC or Education Outside The Classroom.
In Year 4, junior students begin to stretch their wings with a two night trip at Pine Valley Outdoor Centre. In Year 5 & Year 6, students spend four days at Mistletoe Bay in the Queen Charlotte Sound and in St Arnaud at the Lake Rotoiti Outdoor Centre and surrounding area.
The Year 7 & 8 students have a three yearly EOTC programme that incorporates a visit to Teapot Valley and Hanmer Springs, and completing another big outdoor experience.
In the students’ final year at Fairhall School, they complete a tramp of Abel Tasman National Park (subject to availability).
Fairhall School runs a comprehensive EOTC programme, which is graduated through the year levels in the school. EOTC includes anything that takes place outside the classroom. Examples of this at Fairhall School are Fundamental Skills, Day Trips, School Sports events, Regional events, Arts programmes, and Places of Local significance. A core part of our EOTC programme is camps. We have camps from Year 4, with a two-year rotation for camps for Year 5 and above.
Annual Camps:
- Year 4 Pine Valley
- Year 5/6 Mistletoe Bay | Lake Rotoiti
- Year 7/8 Teapot Valley | Hanmer Springs
- Year 8 Abel Tasman Track (subject to availability)
