From the Principal Kia ora koutou.Welcome to the middle of Week 4. We are back to full 5 day weeks till the end of the school year, which will conclude on the 16th of December. This week our Year 4 students are away on camp at Pine Valley from today through to Friday. We are in the process of selecting a team of Athletes to represent Fairhall School at the District Primary Schools’ Athletics event. This follows our successful participation in the rural schools event last week. I hope you are enjoying this sunny warm weather. Tongariro / Abel Tasman Practice Tramp We had a successful second practice tramp last week and was timed perfectly with the weather. There is one final tramp remaining for our Abel Tasman Year 8 students. The Tongariro practice tramps will pick up again in the new year. Pine Valley Camp Our Year 4 students headed off to Pine Valley today for what will be a wonderful start to their camping experiences at Fairhall School. It looks like they are in for a fabulous warm week – here’s hoping. Community Survey Thank you for the fantastic response so far for our community survey about inquiry at Fairhall School. It is not too late to have your say. Please use the following link to give us valuable feedback. The survey will be closed on Friday. Community Inquiry Survey Marlborough Future Farmers Congratulations to Pippa Grigg, Laura Grigg and Erin Gleeson for their outstanding achievements in the Marlborough Future Farmers event at the A & P show. Pippa won her year 4 to 6 division, Laura came second in the year 7-9 division and Erin took out the year 10-12 division. Fantastic to see the girls representing the community and achieving success. We also had a number of entrants into group day who received a large number of certificates and awards. We will recognise our first place getters at this weeks Kidzone. Ngā mihi nui Steve Crockett Tumuaki / Principal Reminder Notices Reminder – End of the School Day – Junior / Senior Playground It is wonderful seeing parents and whānau come back into the school grounds after school to visit classrooms, reconnect with their children’s teachers and view student’s learning. We do ask, however, that you keep your children with you and not allow them to play on the adventure playground. We do not have teachers on duty after school and so only allow bus students to use the main field and tennis courts until the second bus bell rings at around 3.05PM, all other students are expected to be collected after the 2:30 bell. Reminder – Fairhall School App Have you got our Fairhall School App? This can help with keeping up to date on what’s happening at Fairhall and when. Users receive notifications, access to our school newsletters, calendar dates and school contacts. Check out our app features HERE. Download the SchoolAppsNZ now – visit Google Play Store. Once you have downloaded the SchoolAppsNZ – you then search for Fairhall School. Sometimes sports don’t get the draws to school before the newsletter is sent out so please don’t rely on the school newsletter to know what time games are on. Sports Fees: Please pay for summer sports by the end of next week or arrange a payment plan with Mrs McConnell. Fairhall School ‘holds’ the money until the invoice arrives from the various sports. If a few people do not pay for their child it is very difficult for school to find the money from other places. There are a lot of summer sports fees outstanding and with 5 weeks to go in the various competitions we need to collect the money ASAP. Equipment: If your child played a winter sport, could you please check that you don’t have any equipment sitting at home. Bibs, bags, balls, uniforms all need to be returned so that they can be washed and stored until next year. “Be Humble in Victory and Proud in Defeat’ Kidzone – Week 3Te Rūma Kōwhai Spencer Hall – Welcome to Te Rūma Kōwhai. The school goals relate to our curriculum topics and at the end of each term we will be looking to celebrate with students who have achieved this goal. School Wide Whakataukiī Each term our kura (school) has a whakataukī that aligns with our school inquiry focus. A whakataukī translates to whakatau (to settle) and kī (say), say something to settle. These proverbs are motivational and offer a unique way to reflect on our place and what we do. This term our school whakatuakī is: Me mahi tahi tātou mō te oranga o te katoa We should work together for the well-being of everyone We unpack these whakatuakī at school and relate it back to what we do/can do.
