On Wednesday 29th June, Te Kura o Fairhall celebrated Matariki.
The day started with an event with our school community to mark this special day. We all meet at 6.45am and Matariki was seen in the early morning sky for those who were at our kura early enough. Following a beautiful karakia Matraiki on our school field by Vanessa Anderson, the tamariki and their whānau returned to Te Whare Kahikatia to have a breakfast, listen to waiata, share stories and enjoy some games/activities.
Later in the school day, the whole school came together to sing waiata together. Following this the children did some creative Matraiki art with their buddies (tuakana-teina). A wonderful day to celebrate together.
Matariki hunga, Matariki ahunga nui.
Matariki has many admirers, Matariki brings us together.
