June 26 By Colin Wood

EnviroCouncil 2019

Jack Frew, Amelia Dougall, Carys McNabb and  Austin Thomas are your new EnviroCouncil reporters! We’ll keep you updated as the year goes on with some of our projects.

This is the 2019 EnviroCouncil!

The 2019 EnviroCouncil (Meg and Anna were away that day!)

Year 8: Hannah Higginson, Alex Brown, Rihanna Just, Charlotte Montgomery.

Year 7: Freya Grage, Liv Howard, Chloe Kyle, Emily Harper, Zoe Marshall, Holly Bray, Amelia Story, Zoe Baker, Meg Archie, Jack Frew, Austin Thomas.

Year 6: Violet Speakman, Pippa  Fissenden, Anna Hurren, Olivia Brown, Sophia Nicholas, Amelia Dougall, Carys McNabb.

Progress so far this year

Green ribbons – A green ribbon is a new reward we have started for helping the environment. Things such as having a wrapper free lunch or cleaning up the native garden might earn you a green ribbon.

Vision mapping – The vision mapping group has spoken to all classes and planned what the school might look like in the future. In simpler terms – it’s a vision of what the school could be.

Koha Group- This group runs a Koha table as needed and earns money for ongoing things around the School. The table helps share produce from the Edible Garden and families who have excess fruits and vegetables to share. The group is also making koha for visitors to the school.

Special events – Look for announcements soon around E-Waste and next term’s Conservation Week! This group is organising a heap of activities and will promote this as we get closer to the week in September 16-20.

Reporters- That’s us! We’ll keep you informed of progress by the 2019 EnviroCouncil.

NEWS OF THE MONTH:

A group of Nikau and Horoeka students cleaned up the native garden one of many projects the Seniors have been working on.

And that’s us!!!

Bye for now . . . . Jack, Amelia, Carys and Austin
